Netflix Indicted For Releasing Movie That "Sexually Exploits Minors"

Do you think Netflix should be charged over their new movie?

The Texas grand jury has indicted Netflix over the streaming of "Cuties."

Texas lawmaker Matt Schaefer of Texas House District 6 tweeted out a copy of the indictment on Tuesday, October 6th.

Schaefer's tweet read that Netflix is charged with "promoting material in Cuties film which depicts lewd exhibition of pubic area of a clothed or partially clothed child who was younger than 18 yrs of age which appeals to the prurient interest in sex."

Last month Texas senator Ted Cruz sent a letter to the Department of Justice and Attorney General William Barr saying that "Cuties" "sexualizes young girls through dance scenes simulating sexual activities, including one scene exposing a minor's chest."

Cruz called for an investigation into whether Netflix violated any federal laws and if the movie could be considered distribution of child pornography.

Netflix lost over 2.5 million subscribers over the streaming of "Cuties" however, analysts believe that after the controversy dies down, subscribers will return to the platform.
